Neighboring Rights Royalties

What Neighboring Rights Are

Neighboring rights pay the performers and master owners when a recording is publicly played:

  • Radio (FM/AM)
  • Satellite radio (SiriusXM)
  • TV broadcasts
  • Bars, clubs, gyms, malls
  • International streaming platforms

These royalties are separate from songwriter royalties and are collected by specialized agencies.
